They have found their place in the south floridas food chain and I’m really happy about it.

🤔 the label trash fish is put there from high end fisherman, anything that can be used as bait gets a bad rap , it other countries just about any fish is fare game, here in the US people get picky, eating stuff like silversides , pilchards, blue runners ,sand perch, thread fin, lady fish , pinfish, needle fish, for me these are sushi, sashimi, lady fish get filleted and the meat scraped off the bones and made into Pattie’s or fish balls for soup ( the wife is viet ) those Bonita heads and bones would be fish soup ( Ca Canh chua ) , those Bonita should of been blead out right after you caught the slit the gills and put on ice , most kids today won’t eat fish unless it’s a big fish sandwich from a fast food restaurant, they won’t eat fish cooked whole with bones , ( spoiled ) how often do you eat mullet ?

i seen someone for reel deep gut hooks on bigger fish, cut the line at the eye of the hook and just run the hook through. the eye will still do some damage im sure, but much less than a barbbed hook coming out.
